Joe Amara Executive Search is representing a multinational independent power producer. Our client is a newer entrance into the North American market and continues to grow by acquisition and greenfield development. Our client aims to develop, own, and operate solar, solar + storage, and stand-alone storage assets in multiple US markets.
We are conducting a confidential search for a Chief Operating Officer. The COO is tasked with guiding a multi-gigawatt technology agnostic portfolio from mid-stage to COD. The preferred candidate has a proven track record creating engineering, procurement, and construction teams. The COO will inherent a multi-gigawatt, mid-to-late-stage portfolio. Candidates must have successfully executed on a minimum of 2GW of utility-scale renewable energy projects within various US RTO/ISO, preferably solar.
- Build and lead a team of project engineers, construction managers, engineering design, and health and safety professionals.
- Work closely with the development team, oversee the execution of EPC plan.
- Manage current EPC 3rd party vendors, perform appropriate due diligence, renegotiate contracts, engage with new 3rd party vendors if necessary.
- Collaborate with fellow executives in presenting to capital providers.
- Coordinate with M&A team on potential acquisitions of operating or late-stage assets.
- Support construction of a 500mw PV site, 100mw storage site, summer 2024.
Requirements
- A minimum of 15 years in utility scale power generation; solar or wind is a must.
- A minim of 2GW of completed projects, preferably solar, in multiple states.
- Experience building project execution teams from scratch. Proven track record of team building.
- Proven track record of working in a small, nimble environments. Experience working with small/lean teams is a must.
- Domestic travel 50%, international travel 10%
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
