Joe Amara Executive Search is representing a leading independent power producer building a portfolio of solar, battery storage, and wind assets in a confidential search for a Vice President, Capital Markets.
The Vice President will serve as a senior finance and transaction leader, overseeing corporate capital markets activity, helping lead M&A as a function, supporting project finance execution, and owning the enterprise model as a strategic decision-making tool. This is a hands-on leadership role for a candidate who can operate at the intersection of capital formation, transaction execution, portfolio growth, and company-level strategy.
The ideal candidate brings meaningful experience across capital markets, M&A, and project finance within renewable energy, power, infrastructure, investment banking, or private equity-backed platforms. The role is best suited for someone who can lead complex transactions, manage a small team, engage senior stakeholders and external capital providers, and remain close enough to the work to understand the details that drive decisions.
- Lead corporate capital markets initiatives, including corporate debt facilities, structured capital solutions, and other company-level financing activity.
- Serve as a key internal point person for a future sale, exit, or strategic capital events, partnering closely with ownership, advisors, lenders, and senior leadership.
- Own the corporate enterprise model as a strategic tool for evaluating liquidity, capital needs, financing alternatives, capital allocation, and company-level decisions, with support from junior members of the finance team.
- Lead and strengthen the M&A function, including transaction strategy, bid guidance, deal execution, diligence coordination, and sign-off support.
- Provide senior oversight and execution support for project finance activity, including debt and tax equity transactions, as business needs require.
- Manage and mentor a small team, including M&A and analyst-level resources, while leveraging broader finance support on larger transactions.
- Build and maintain productive relationships across lenders, investment banks, infrastructure capital providers, and other financing counterparties.
- Help shape strategic decisions in a private equity-backed environment where timing, capital structure, execution quality, and enterprise value creation are closely connected.
Requirements:
- Approximately 10 to 15 years of relevant experience, with flexibility for exceptional candidates from investment banking or similarly rigorous transaction environments.
- Demonstrated experience across capital markets, M&A, and project finance, ideally with exposure to renewable energy, power, infrastructure, or independent power producer platforms.
- Strong understanding of corporate debt, structured capital, project finance debt, tax equity, and transaction execution in asset-intensive businesses.
- Ability to lead complex processes while remaining sufficiently hands-on with models, diligence, documents, and workstream details, supplemented by junior member support.
- Experience using corporate- or enterprise-level financial models to inform strategic decisions and optimize the business, not simply to produce outputs.
- Commercial judgment, analytical rigor, and the credibility to advise senior leadership on financing, transaction, and capital allocation choices.
- Strong external-facing presence with lenders, tax equity investors, advisors, private equity sponsors, and other capital providers.
