Reporting to the COO, the Senior Project Engineer will manage and coordinate technical issues of solar and storage projects from development through the completion of construction and transition to operations. This role will ensure delivery of technical concept and engineering design of projects at various stages of their lifecycle.
Responsibilities include managing all 3rd party engineering and design work, and interface with the technical teams, and oversee all major technical issues to ensure compliance with technical requirements.
- Lead an effective response to technical issues which arise on solar and storage projects.
- Develop engineering design specifications and scopes of work.
- In coordination with the Director of Procurement, develop and issue Request for Proposals (RFPs) for engineering work, evaluate the submissions and make recommendations on selection.
- Manage 3rd party engineers performing site/civil, foundation, collection system, project substation and Point-of-Interconnection (POI) substation designs.
- Interface with Technical Engineering to ensure preparation and clarity of regional requirements and resource planning through coordination of the input of specialized skills, supported either from internal or external technical experts or by developing local partnerships for detailed engineering support.
- Planning and coordinating of internal and external resources for technical due diligence of solar and storage energy projects
- Support the project development of solar and storage assets during the technical/commercial optimization phase.
- Make recommendations to optimize project economics.
- Responsible for budgeting and managing all project engineering related costs.
- Responsible for technical analyses to support project construction and development activities.
- Ensure health and safety (HSE) compliance for all aspects of the engineering design phase of the projects.
