We are seeking an experienced leader to serve as Director Remote Operations Center (ROC), overseeing the safe, reliable, and efficient operations of a growing renewable energy portfolio. This role is critical to ensuring real-time performance, compliance, and optimization of assets across multiple U.S. power markets. The ideal candidate will bring both hands-on desk operations experience and proven leadership in managing 24/7 control center functions.
- Provide strategic and operational leadership of the ROC, ensuring compliance with NERC/ISO standards and internal performance expectations.
- Lead a team of operators and technical staff responsible for continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and dispatch coordination of renewable generation and storage assets.
- Develop and maintain operating procedures, training programs, and performance metrics to ensure best-in-class operational reliability.
- Partner with Field, Operations, Asset Management, Market Operations, and Engineering teams to optimize asset availability and revenue performance.
- Oversee real-time monitoring of market-exposed assets and ensure integration with merchant operations as applicable.
- Drive continuous improvement in control center technology, tools, and processes, positioning the ROC as a strategic advantage for the company.
- Act as the primary point of accountability for control center operations during normal and emergency conditions.
Team & Reporting Structure
- Direct Reports: 6 total (5 Control Room Operators working 24/7 shifts, plus 1 EMS/Systems Lead Engineer)
- Reporting Line: Reports to the Senior Director, Asset Management
- Expected to collaborate cross-functionally with Field Operations, Market Operations, and Engineering groups.
Requirements:
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in renewable energy operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Hands-on experience as a control room operator or shift supervisor strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with multiple ISOs/RTOs (ERCOT, MISO, SPP, PJM) and renewable asset classes.
- Familiarity with NERC/CIP regulations
- Demonstrated success in leading teams in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Strong understanding of SCADA, EMS, and remote monitoring platforms.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under pressure.
