About the Role
Our client, an innovative and fast-growing independent power producer, is on a mission to transform the renewable energy sector with a focus on utility-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects across North America. They are seeking an experienced Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to join their executive team and drive the company’s commercial growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement Commercial Strategy
- Create a comprehensive commercial strategy that aligns with company goals, focusing on the development of utility-scale wind, solar, and storage assets across North America.
- Lead revenue-generation efforts at both project and corporate levels, identifying and pursuing growth opportunities to increase market share and optimize portfolio composition.
- Executive Leadership and Strategic Decision-Making
- Work closely with the executive team, presenting strategic recommendations to the Company’s executive committee and supporting preparation for key investment processes.
- Refine and ensure adherence to investment protocols to drive streamlined decision-making and alignment with corporate objectives.
- Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)
- Lead the company’s M&A strategy to achieve revenue targets, ensuring portfolio diversification and alignment with desired market exposure.
- Identify opportunities for both divestment and acquisition to maintain an ideal pipeline and a balanced risk-reward profile, overseeing end-to-end transaction processes.
- Offtake Strategy and Contract Negotiations
- Develop and execute competitive off-take bidding and negotiation strategies, securing power purchase agreements (PPAs) and similar contracts with utilities, trading firms, and corporate clients.
- Provide expert guidance on structuring optimal PPA terms, contract duration, revenue mix, and hedging strategies, ensuring that all agreements align with financial goals and market forecasts.
- Lead and Cultivate a High-Performance Team
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of approximately 15 transaction and origination professionals distributed across the U.S.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement, enabling team members to drive successful outcomes and grow within their roles.
- Drive Cross-Departmental Integration and Operational Excellence
- Promote synergy across all departments by creating and demonstrating a culture of achievement, operational excellence, and mutual support.
- Champion initiatives that drive process improvement and strategic alignment, ensuring that commercial objectives are effectively integrated across the organization.
Requirements:
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree in business or economics is preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in renewable energy, M&A, transaction structuring, and investment delivery.
- Multiple off-take agreements executed in multiple markets.
- Expertise in transaction negotiations, financial modeling, and project investment valuation, with a track record of delivering high-impact results.
- Proven success in leading and managing large, geographically distributed teams, with a focus on talent development, engagement, and retention.
- Exceptional communication skills and business acumen, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders and influence key decisions.
- Highly adaptable and proactive in managing complex, multifaceted projects within a dynamic industry environment.
