We are seeking a Chief Commercial Officer on behalf of a well-capitalized infrastructure fund. The CCO will lead all commercial actives for our client’s renewable energy portfolio company, which is poised for significant growth. The preferred candidate has 15-20 years of spearheading commercial activities for an independent power producer, project developer, or standalone storage owner/operator.
The ideal candidate has created a commercial strategy for a technology agnostic developer, with both contracted and merchant assets, located throughout the United States. The CCO is responsible for spearheading new customer engagement, directing the commercial team’s activities, and clearly communicating the new commercial strategy to internal stakeholders.
- Support greenfield development of utility-scale wind, solar, and storage assets across multiple ISOs/RTOs, by providing commercial guidance to the project development team, power origination team, and capital markets team.
- Negotiate new power purchase agreements with utilities and C&I customers for upcoming projects in 2025/2026/2027.
- Provide guidance on structuring long and short-term PPAs, basis risk, and hedging strategies.
- Examine over several gigawatts of operating assets, replace offtake for expiring PPAs, source new off-takers for existing assets, and make repower recommendations where appropriate.
- Work with transmission team and market operations team to manage and capitalize on merchant exposure.
- Work with trading floor and implement day, day-ahead, and real-time market strategies.
- Communicate new hedging strategies to internal stakeholders.
Requirements:
- 15-20 years of power origination/marketing experience with a renewable energy developer, IPP, or standalone storage owner/operator.
- A minimum of 2.5GW of renewable energy PPAs negotiated within the past five years.
- The successful implementation of commercialization strategy, which included multiple technologies, in multiple US wholesale power markets.
- Bachelor’s Degree is a must. MBA is preferred.
- Willingness to travel 30%.
