Position Summary:
The Executive Vice President (EVP) of Mergers & Acquisitions will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s growth strategy by leading transactions across a broad range of energy technologies and markets. Reporting directly to the CEO, the EVP will oversee the execution of M&A strategies, identify high-value opportunities, and manage the end-to-end transaction process. This role will also lead a small, high-performing business development team to identify and evaluate potential acquisitions that align with corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
M&A Strategy Development:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive M&A strategy to grow the company’s portfolio in alignment with business goals.
- Assess market trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities to identify high-value transactions.
Transaction Management:
- Lead all aspects of M&A transactions, including sourcing, due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and integration planning.
- Work closely with legal, financial, and operational teams to ensure seamless execution of deals.
Leadership:
- Manage and mentor the business development team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Provide thought leadership on industry trends and implications for the company’s growth strategy.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with the CEO and executive leadership team to communicate the value and strategic impact of M&A activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders, including developers, investors, and market operators.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in M&A, investment banking, private equity, or corporate development within the energy sector, with a strong focus on utility-scale renewables, including wind, solar, and storage. Experience with multi-gigawatt portfolios is highly desirable.
- Skills: Proven ability to lead complex transactions from sourcing to integration. Strong financial acumen, negotiation skills, and strategic thinking.
- Leadership: Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing teams.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of North American energy markets and the regulatory environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, engineering, or a related field is required. MBA or other advanced degrees are preferred.
